Gallatin Department of Electricity proposes substation rebuild on Nichols Lane; staff reports minor comments

Gallatin Department of Electricity (GDE) presented a site plan for a substation rebuild on about 7.32 acres at 225/255 Nichols Lane.
Staff planner Jim Carpenter said the plan shows the substation expanding to the south along Woods Ferry Road with a gravel base prepared for future expansion, a vinyl-coated fence and no significant variances requested. Brandon Hesson of GDE said the rebuild will improve existing infrastructure and “get more power to the south side.”
Staff described comments to be largely minor and resolvable in engineering review. No opposition was raised and the commission indicated no immediate obstacles to approving the substation site plan once outstanding technical comments are addressed.
