The Angola Board of Public Works and Safety on Monday, Oct. 6, approved the appointments of three new firefighters to the Angola Fire Department and also approved the board's Aug. 4 minutes.
The votes were taken by voice; all those present said "aye." The board recorded Members Martin, Olson and McDermott as present at roll call.
Board action filled three openings in the fire department. The board approved the appointment of Cass Hassett to the Angola Fire Department with a start date listed as Sept. 28, 2025; Hunter Tinker with a start date listed as Sept. 28, 2025; and Tim Fries with a start date listed as Oct. 26, 2025. Each appointment was moved and seconded on the record; the motions carried on voice votes.
Earlier in the meeting the board moved to approve the minutes from the Aug. 4 meeting; that motion was seconded and carried. Several participants offered no departmental reports: staff and department representatives present indicated "no report" for their agenda items.
The meeting concluded after a brief administrative wrap-up and an opportunity for photographs in front of a statue; the presiding officer adjourned the session.
