Commerce City adopts 2025 Land Development Code, to begin citywide rezoning next year

Commerce City’s City Council voted unanimously on Oct. 6 to adopt a rewritten Land Development Code intended to implement the goals of the 2045 Comprehensive Plan, streamline review procedures and modernize design standards.
The new code is the product of a multi-year effort that city staff and consultants said included hundreds of outreach meetings. City staff and consultant representatives told council the rewritten code rearranges rules into a clearer structure, adds design standards, updates zoning districts to reflect the comprehensive plan’s character areas, and introduces a sustainability index and new procedures such as preliminary plats.
