Bannock County awards roof-rehab contract for county building; board approves 80-mil upgrade

The Bannock County Board of Commissioners awarded a contract to Thomas D. Robison Roofing Company to rehabilitate and replace the roof on a county building after a public-works bid review.
Public works director Kyle Burmister told commissioners the county received five bids and the review committee recommended the low bidder. Reviewers recommended upgrading to an 80-mil roofing membrane for longer life; the committee estimated that upgrade would add about $5,697 to the cost. Burmister said the upgrade would remove older materials, seal leaks and add a new drip edge; the work also includes removing unused satellite dishes.
Commissioners moved, accepted a friendly amendment about signing letters to awarded and non-awarded bidders, and approved the award and upgrade by voice vote. The director said the selected price with the 80-mil material remained lower than other bidders who had proposed only 60-mil material.
The director told the board the roof work is not part of any planned remodel and will not be affected by future master-plan construction. Staff said timing would start promptly and that the county remained well under earlier cost estimates.
The board directed staff to proceed with contract documentation and vendor notification and to return contract documents as needed for signatures.
