Standing committees approve subscriptions, mobility grant and contract extension; several measures pass unanimously

The Pittsburgh City Council standing committees on Oct. 1 approved a series of administrative and policy measures, including a subscription agreement for litigation research, a mobility planning grant, a consulting contract extension for police rank development and several zoning and administrative items.

Key outcomes at a glance

- Bill 22-64: Approved an extension and increase to the professional-services agreement with Industrial Organizational Solutions, Inc., adding $74,000 and extending the term by one year for a new not-to-exceed total of $350,000 for work on police lieutenant and sergeant position development.

- Bill 21-50: Held for four weeks. The ordinance to update vending program rules (Title 7, Article 3, Chapter 7-19) was placed on a four-week hold.

- Bill 21-51: Approved a conditional-use application for Pittsburgh Water for new construction and site work at the Pittsburgh Water Campus, 900 Freeport Boulevard, Twelfth Ward, Ninth Council District.

- Bill 22-67: Approved expansion of a residential parking permit district (Gram area L, Central Northside Community) to include an additional address pursuant to Pittsburgh Code Chapter 5-49.

- Bill 22-65: Authorized payment of the second installment of the 2025 annual membership dues to the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission, not to exceed $64,373.50.

How votes were recorded: Most measures were approved by voice vote; the standing-committee record shows multiple “Aye” responses and several “Affirmative recommendation” notations.
