Tax and insurer Sandra Carter presented the county’s tax and collections report Oct. 6 and asked the board to approve September collections and several releases.
Carter reported September collections of $2,509,802.80 and asked the board to approve releases related to conservation easements and other clerical corrections. She told commissioners that one batch of releases stemmed from a mis-keyed conservation-easement exemption and that she had discovered approximately $9,000 in additional tax dollars that would offset part of the releases.
The board moved and voted to approve the September collections and the requested releases. Carter also provided a brief update on sales ratios and real-estate sales activity, noting the county’s sales ratio at 62% and discussing high-value home listings that could affect property tax valuations going forward.
Provenance: Tax collector report and motions at 1109.085–1214.6799 and related discussion at 1214.6799–1297.3701.
