Board approves slate of appointments, sets additional nominations for Oct. 20; several recusals noted

- Appointments approved (uncontested and moved to appointment): board of adjustments, joint planning board, farm advisory board, library board of trustees, Mid Carolina workforce development board, Mid Carolina Aging Advisory Council, North Carolina Southeast Board of Directors, and Tourism Development Authority. The board voted to approve the slate; the vote was recorded as unanimous with noted recusals where applicable.
- Tourism Development Authority: Commissioners approved an exception to policy to allow Commissioner Pavin Patel to serve a third term if selected; Commissioner Patel was recused from the tourism authority vote.
- Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC): The board appointed Commissioner Henry Tyson as chair and Daniel Davis as vice chair for the LEPC. Commissioner Tyson requested recusal from the vote on his own appointment and was excused for that vote.
- A number of nominees were moved forward for appointment at the Oct. 20 meeting (contested or incomplete application cycles), including nominees for the Human Relations Committee and other facility representatives for the LEPC.
Madam Clerk will ensure added nominees receive application packets and complete the process; commissioners were reminded that nominations from the floor require timely completion of applications to be eligible for appointment at the next meeting.
The board also approved the meeting agenda and the consent agenda earlier in the session; both votes were recorded as unanimous.
