The Shawnee County Board of County Commissioners on Oct. 2 recognized dozens of employees marking service anniversaries and several retirees, including employees with 20, 25, 33 and 35 years of service.
The event brought department heads and elected officials to the podium to highlight individual careers and the county’s reliance on long-serving staff. "Will's one of those employees that I have that started out as an intermediate collector 20 years ago... and now he's my fleet supervisor," said Bill Sutton, Shawnee County Solid Waste, as he introduced William Owens, who was honored for 20 years of service. "He's always the rock of calmness...so I just want to thank Will for all of the service."
