Votes at a glance: council approves consent agenda, surplus police transit bus, and appointments

The Pocatello City Council took several routine actions by roll call vote during its meeting.

Consent agenda: Council moved to approve the consent agenda as presented with agenda item 3(a) (minutes) pulled from the consent agenda. The consent items included approval of material claims covering Sept. 30–Oct. 1, 2025, and confirmation of the mayor’s appointment of Joel Phillips to the Investment and Audit Committee to replace Benny Ma; Joel Phillips’ term was described as beginning Oct. 3, 2025 and as non‑expiring in the meeting materials. The motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Council President Loehrk and seconded by Council Member Cheatham; the motion passed on a roll call vote.

Surplus police transit bus: Council approved disposal of a 2006 Opus Optima former Pocatello Regional Transit bus, declared inoperable and used by the police department for training; the council authorized the mayor to sign pertinent documents subject to legal review. Council Member Lyric (Council President) moved the item and Council Member Cheatham seconded; the motion passed on a roll call vote.

Calendar and proclamations: The council read a proclamation declaring October 2025 as National Long Term Care Residents Rights Month in Pocatello and reviewed upcoming meetings and local events including an Oct. 9 work session and Oct. 14–Nov. 1 early voting at the Bannock County Elections Office.

Each of the items above passed by roll call during the meeting; the council adjourned after concluding the agenda.
