Oswego EDC affirms minutes, names Business of the Month for December and January and discusses incentives, outreach

The Oswego Economic Development Commission on an evening meeting approved its minutes, voted to name Floral Expressions as the Business of the Month for December and Hudson for January, and discussed financial-incentive guidelines and outreach efforts including an EDC open house and a business-retention survey.

Commissioners opened the meeting with a roll call and moved quickly through routine business before turning to new business. The commission approved the meeting minutes by roll call vote before proceeding to discussion of financial incentive requests and promotion efforts for local businesses.

The commission discussed a $5,000 per-request limit for small financial incentives that has been used with neighboring communities. One EDC member said the limit “allows them to properly budget,” noting that restricting very high-cost items makes budgeting easier for applicants…
