Elko County School District updates campuses, safety systems and construction timelines

Elko County School District staff provided a facilities and construction update to the board, reporting continued installation of school-safety cameras and related equipment, progress on modular classroom moves and a schedule for upcoming mechanical and roofing projects.
District staff said schools where cameras and TCUs (timing/control units) are complete include Adobe Middle School, Elko High School, Spring Creek High School, Spring Creek Middle School, Southside, Wells Combined, Sage Elementary, Carlin Combined, West Wendover High School and Jackpot combined. Work at Flagview is in progress; district staff said they hope to finish Flagview then move to Northside before the end of the fiscal year.
The district reported modular classroom units are in use at Spring Creek but said only two of the modules were fully occupied at the start of the school year and that some units still required final utility and finishing touches. Staff said the trailers provide short-term capacity and flexibility for growing enrollments.
Construction updates included the near-complete Food Science (agriscience) building, replacement of the old central roof, and completion of several modular projects. Staff identified forthcoming bids and planned work: a mechanical upgrade for "Grammar No. 2" (to be bid in December), an Elko High School boiler upgrade (to be bid in December), plans for Jackpot mechanical upgrades with a possible spring bid, and a new roof for the Wells High School gym planned for next summer.
Superintendent C.J. Anderson and other administrative staff described the new Hawaii school project as substantially underway and said safety and modern systems (including cameras and single-point entry) will be built into the new facility. They thanked state officials, tribal partners and local philanthropists for additional funding and outreach that district staff said made the larger project scope feasible.
No formal action was taken; the item was listed as a nonaction report to keep the board and public informed of construction status and near-term procurement timelines.
