Osceola commissioners approve agenda, proclaim Fire Prevention Week and confirm several appointments

The Osceola Board of County Commissioners on Oct. 6 approved its meeting agenda and consent calendar, proclaimed Oct. 5–11, 2025 as Fire Prevention Week, and confirmed several appointments and reappointments by unanimous vote.
During a proclamation presented by Commissioner Booth, the board cited the National Fire Protection Association estimate that U.S. fire departments respond to about 1,500,000 fires annually, with more than 13,000 fire-related injuries and nearly 4,000 fire-related deaths. The board proclaimed Oct. 5–11, 2025 as Fire Prevention Week and recognized the theme "Charge Into Fire Safety: Lithium-ion batteries in your home," which emphasizes awareness of fire risks posed by lithium-ion batteries.
The board approved the consent agenda (items 3–29) without discussion and then moved to regular business and reports. In the reports section, Commissioner Choudhury announced the launch of 4cornersfl.us, a site intended to let residents and businesses in the Four Corners area identify which county they belong to and view county services and elected officials. "Finally, finally, the the 4cornersfl.us is live and in action, guys," Choudhury said.
Choudhury also announced a home purchase by a family served through the Salvation Army’s Pathway to Housing program in District 3 and urged residents to attend an anti-bullying "Chalkaway Hate" event at Celebration High School on Nov. 8. Commissioner Green highlighted HelpNow as her organization of the year and Mary Lee Downey as her person of the year. Commissioner Booth noted a sold-out October Silver Spurs event and moved to reappoint Vivian Grillo and Clyde Wells to the MetroPlan Orlando community advisory committee and to reappoint Jacob Dorn to the Housing Finance Authority; those appointments passed by voice vote.
Commissioner reports also included a brief update on the opening of a new Hudson Health location near Liberty High School in Poinciana and notice of a food distribution event Oct. 25 for the first 600 cars at the distribution site.
The meeting concluded after routine reports and no additional business was taken up.
