Trustees discussed several administrative matters during the Oct. 23 meeting, including a planned advisory presentation to the City Commission, an asset-allocation update and procedures for filling an expiring trustee seat.
Shelley (staff) told trustees the board plans a concise advisory presentation to the City Commission, scheduled for the first meeting in July (the record lists July 6 as the target date). The presentation will be brief — she suggested seven minutes or less — and will provide a high-level overview of the board’s role and current activities; Shelley and staff offered to support the chair if the chair cannot attend.
Investment staff reported the pension fund’s assets as of Oct. 15 — roughly $358 million — and noted a $200,000 withdrawal from the Allspring account was used to partially fund retiree payroll. The update was informational.
Trustees were advised that Trustee Todd announced he will step down at the end of his term (the transcript indicates his term expires the following day). Nomination forms will be distributed to active, eligible plan members; self-nominations require the support of five active members. The board expects a short receipt window for nominations and said a mail ballot election would be used if the seat is contested; ballots would be opened publicly at the dais.
No formal votes were taken on these administrative items at the meeting.
