District reports: state assessment timeline, staff recognitions, conferences, E-rate funding and MTSS training

District administrators provided several operational updates at the Oct. 16 Addison SD 4 Board of Education meeting, including timing for state-assessment designations, staff recognition, family-teacher conference windows, federal E-rate funding and districtwide MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) professional development.
Superintendent Dr. Sutton said the annual state-assessment performance and designation information will be made public in November and that the district will provide a brief report at the next meeting.
Administrators recognized several staff members for district service, including teacher Mark Smith (nominated by Mr. Bolton and Mrs. Morghese), staff member Christina Orianna (nominated by Mr. Bolton and Mrs. Morghese and described as integral to Fullerton Elementary) and Anna Zaragoza (nominated by Dr. Warren). The names and nominations appeared in the board packet and were acknowledged at the meeting.
Dr. Iovinelli described student learning profiles (SLPs) and family-teacher conference scheduling. SLPs will be sent home on Thursday, Nov. 13. The sign-up window for conferences opens Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 8 a.m.; Indian Trail has a sign-up deadline of Friday, Nov. 14, while the ALC and elementary schools have until Tuesday, Nov. 18. Principals will share building-specific instructions.
The district also reviewed federal E-rate Year 29, the five-year funding cycle from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2031. The district will receive reimbursements for Category 2 projects at an 85% rate. Dr. Iovinelli said the per-student E-rate funding amount increased from $167 to $201, which the district estimates will provide more than $700,000 over the five-year cycle to support infrastructure projects. The district described multiple layers of internet filtering and student-safety instruction: GoGuardian, Bark, FortiGate web filtering, Google SafeSearch via DNS and Google admin, and Cisco Umbrella; staff cybersecurity training will be required annually per a recent audit.
In student services, administrators summarized recent MTSS training provided during a district institute on Oct. 10, noting staff learned strategies to support academic, behavioral and social needs and to use data to track progress and adjust supports.
Administrators said they responded to requests included in the board packet and will provide additional updates as needed.
