County commissioners heard details on several land-use items: three rezoning requests, an annexation request for approximately seven acres, and an ordinance intended to clarify the maximum number of liquor and package stores in the county. Planning and codes staff presented the items and reported favorable recommendations.
On the rezonings, staff described the parcels, acreage and the intended zoning changes: one parcel (about 5.27 acres) requested rezoning from A-1 to C-1 to relocate a business office; a second (about 5.5 acres on Greenwood Hollow Lane) requested A-1 to R-1 to allow subdivision for a family member’s home; a third was a dual-zoned parcel (M-1/R-2) on Cemetery Road and Herod Lane proposed to be rezoned wholly to R-2 to allow development, with water, sewer and a fire hydrant noted at Cemetery Road. Staff said all three items came forward with favorable recommendations.
An annexation item (ordinance 336-2025-23 on the agenda packet) requested annexation of an approximately seven-acre parcel on Cemetery Lane and Herod Lane into the urban district; staff confirmed that annexation into the urban district includes city services and will result in city taxes for the property.
Commissioners also discussed ordinance 337-2025-24, a clarification of the maximum number of liquor and package stores. Staff noted the item came from codes and zoning and had a favorable committee recommendation.
The work session presentation did not include a recorded final county commission vote on any of these ordinances during the work session. Planning and codes recommendations were reported as favorable; the commission indicated the items would proceed through the public hearing and second-reading process as required.
