Leonardtown council backs two Class B liquor‑license support letters for downtown restaurants

Leonardtown — The Leonardtown Town Council voted Oct. 14 to approve two letters of support related to Class B restaurant liquor licenses in downtown Leonardtown.
The council approved a letter supporting transfer of the Front Porch’s Class B restaurant license from Jeffrey Lewis LLC to MPJ 23 Inc., owned by Gatam and Shalish Patel. The approved transfer includes the restaurant’s existing outdoor seating area at 22770 Washington Street. The applicants told the council they plan incremental building improvements but intend to keep the establishment operating as a Class B restaurant. The transfer will be considered by the county liquor board in November.
The council also approved a letter of support for a Class B restaurant license for Ruchi’s/Ricci’s Italian Kitchen and Grill, proposed for 22685 Washington Street in the former Old Town Café space. The applicants (listed in council discussion as Jamelle, Meyer Fernandez and Lucy Stillwell) seek a license that includes outdoor seating on the front sidewalk; staff noted the license application will be reviewed by the liquor board and the applicants plan interior and exterior improvements before opening.
Both motions were made, seconded and passed with aye votes. Town staff will forward the letters of support to the appropriate liquor board for formal consideration; those boards retain final licensing authority.
