Board recognizes Henderson County teachers, principals and staff of the year

The Henderson County Board of Public Education opened its Oct. 13 meeting by recognizing the district’s annual teachers- and staff-of-the-year awards.
Superintendent Art Garrett and district leaders presented awards across multiple categories: Sarah Schwartz was named beginning teacher of the year; Erin Seeley was recognized as exceptional children’s educator of excellence and noted as the district’s first related-service provider to receive the honor; Tom Ammons received School Resource Officer of the Year after a promotion to oversee the SRO program; Deborah Ramsey was named Media Coordinator of the Year for her work at Dana; Kim Ball was honored as School Nurse of the Year; Jason Livingston was recognized as NCAT/CTE teacher of the year for his agricultural and FFA program at West Henderson; Molly Wright was named Outstanding Math Teacher for her work at Rugby Middle School; and Marley Moreno Holyfield was named Henderson County Teacher of the Year and advanced to the regional interview stage.
Board and district officials invited honorees to the front of the boardroom for photographs and public recognition. Administration asked honorees and families to stay after the meeting for a group photograph.
