Hamilton County approves $45,000 allocation for Aetna Mountain Trails, Tennessee River Gorge Trust to complete Phase 2

Hamilton County commissioners approved Resolution 10 25–28 on Oct. 15 to allocate up to $45,000 from the 2024 bond issue to the Tennessee River Gorge Trust for the second phase of the Aetna Mountain Trails.
Elliot Burris, representing the Tennessee River Gorge Trust, told the commission the project will complete an eight-mile, multi-use trail system in Lookout Valley designed for mountain bikers and hikers. Burris said the trails will include beginner- and intermediate-level lines, be publicly accessible 24/7, and include adaptive-friendly features to accommodate riders with disabilities.
Commissioners thanked the trust for the project and acknowledged the trail’s role in expanding outdoor recreation access in the county. The resolution passed on roll call.
