The Board of Hamilton County Commissioners approved a joint agreement for 2025-2026 to share a loader used in snow-and-ice operations, splitting the $4,508 cost three ways with Delhi Township and the Oak Veil School district.
County Engineer Eric Beck told the board the arrangement spreads wear-and-tear costs; the county typically rents loaders at its domes annually so equipment is not overused. "We typically rent them at all of our domes because of the wear and tear salt does on equipment," Beck said.
Commissioners approved the resolution by unanimous voice vote during the regular agenda. Administration said the cost will be paid from the Road and Bridge Fund and that loader-sharing is a common intergovernmental arrangement to maintain county roads during winter months.
The agreement covers one winter season and administration indicated routine procurement and maintenance conditions apply.
