District 207 advances $25 million year-two facilities master-plan; athletic-field master plan moves to design

Maine Township High School District 207's Board approved moving its year-two facilities master-plan into the design and bidding phase at the October meeting, with an approximate total project estimate of $25,000,000.
Director of Buildings and Grounds Dave Ohm outlined district-wide projects included in the year-two plan: continued interior security door installations with controlled access fobs; a building automation-system migration; auditorium and washroom remodels; additions of band and orchestra instrument storage; rebuild of an aging freight elevator; demolition and repour of loading-dock concrete; fencing, paving and curbing replacements; roof replacements over specified wings and gym/cafeteria areas; and athletic improvements including replacement of outfield screens and stadium lighting conversions to LED.
Main South and Main West projects were itemized as part of the package (auditorium washroom remodels, replacement of computer/manufacturing labs, monument signage, cogen system replacement, window and tuckpointing work, door and stair replacements and a proposed custom turf football field at Main West). The district estimated most of the work will commence in summer 2026.
Athletic-field master-plan timeline
District staff reported a timeline for the athletic-field master plan developed with consultant White:
- September 2025: athletic director walk-throughs and documentation - October 2025: meetings with coaches and standards development - November 2025: options review and stakeholder meetings - December 2025: design process and cost estimates - January 2026: committee presentation and outreach to booster groups and parents - January'February 2026: bidding process - February'March 2026: contract final approval
Why this matters
The approved authorization clears the way for design contracts and future bid awards; individual projects and contracts will return to the board for formal award. The plan addresses aging infrastructure and athletic facilities across all three district high schools and includes items that will require coordination with contractors and summer construction windows to limit disruption to the school year.
