Committee reviews staffing update, long‑term sub contract for Kennedy Middle School math

The Germantown School District Personnel Committee on Oct. 21 reviewed a staffing update that included a proposed long‑term substitute teacher contract for a retired teacher who will cover seventh‑grade math at Kennedy Middle School and a status report on other certified and classified openings.

Committee members were told there were no teacher resignations to report. The administration introduced one teacher contract for a long‑term substitute: "The one teacher contract that we're bringing forth is actually for a long term sub position," the administrator said, and added that the candidate, Brenda, is a retired teacher who previously taught the same math class.

The administrator said the district interviewed a candidate for a Spanish certified position (the Spanish position has been covered internally) and that the district has hired two special‑education aides and continues to have several vacancies for special‑education assistant roles. The administrator described most departures as "circumstantial in balancing life, work" rather than employees leaving because of dissatisfaction with their jobs, and said two of the four recent vacancies were in the process of onboarding.

No formal action on the teacher contract or hires was recorded at the committee meeting; the staffing items were presented as reports to inform the full board and to seek the committee's recommendation when required.
