Michigan City Promise reports $758,707 in scholarship payments since 2021; 29 local students selected for 2024 class

At the Oct. 21 Michigan City Common Council meeting, Keila Ward, director of education and workforce development and program director for the Michigan City Promise scholarship, presented the program's annual report for 2025 and a financial summary covering academic years 2020'21 through 2024'25.
Ward told councilors the program paid $162,947.82 for the 2021'22 academic year; $220,742.10 for 2022'23; $181,358.92 for 2023'24; and $193,658.61 for 2024'25, for a four-year total of $758,707.45. She also said that since the program began in 2017 it has paid $1,426,129.15 in scholarships.
