The Webb County Veterans Advisory Committee on Oct. 14 approved minutes from its Sept. 16, 2025 meeting and voted to avoid holding its regular November meeting on Veterans Day (Nov. 11), instructing staff to seek an earlier date in November.
At the start of the meeting the committee considered and approved the Sept. 16 minutes “as presented” after a motion and second; the chair called for votes and declared the motion passed.
Later in the agenda, staff presented two available alternative meeting dates for November — Nov. 10 and Nov. 14 — because the committee’s usual date would fall on Veterans Day. Committee members discussed the options and debated whether the meeting should be the day before (Nov. 10), the week after (Nov. 14), or be left “to be announced” pending further calendar checks by city staff.
A motion was made and seconded “not to have the meeting on the November 11 and try to reschedule it before the November 10.” After members spoke in favor of an earlier date and confirmed available options with the city secretary’s office, the chair called the vote: “All those in favor say aye.” The chair then said the motion passed.
The committee then adjourned at approximately 12:20 p.m.
The meeting record does not list a roll-call vote with individual member votes for these two motions; minutes were approved by voice vote and the scheduling motion passed by voice vote after a second and public discussion.
