Justice Center nears exterior completion; Great Crossing Park gets design talk for extra fields and amphitheater

Scott County Fiscal Court members received Oct. 23 construction and parks updates: the Justice Center project is advancing and Great Crossing Park may get additional sports fields, an amphitheater and a lap pool as part of future design phases.
Judicial center: County officials said site work and structural framing are progressing, with drywall and retaining walls going up and geothermal wells installed; staff described “48 geothermal wells” in the current scope and said they expect substantial completion milestones coming in the near term.
Great Crossing Park: The interlocal committee is preparing a resolution recommending additional facilities at Great Crossing Park, including another “wagon-wheel” configuration baseball/softball field and a proposed amphitheater. The city is reportedly considering adding a lap pool to an adjacent site (design work to be coordinated). County staff said the court would handle procurement for the fields while the city manages its portion of the pool project. Staff also reported that more than 100 yards of mulch had been installed at a new playground site and described planned phase-two playground additions.
Court members said the proposals are not final; design and funding details will be discussed further and could be included as alternates or future phases pending space and budget considerations.
