Scott County approves four road hires, four EMS hires and donates surplus fire equipment to regional departments

Jeff noted the county credits prior related experience (75% credit) when setting starting wages. A motion to approve the road hires was moved and seconded and passed unanimously by voice vote.
EMS hires: On behalf of EMS leadership, a staff member recommended one full-time hire, Emily Mather, to start Oct. 26 at $14.56 per hour, and three part-time hires — Jennifer Connolly (retiree returning), Haven McKinney and Noah Howell — to begin Oct. 27 at $12.77 per hour. The court approved those hires by voice vote. Commissioners discussed pay differentials between part-time and full-time positions and noted compensation will be reviewed ahead of the next budget cycle.
Fire department surplus: The court approved donating surplus hose, nozzles and appliances to six requesting Kentucky fire departments, including Stamping Ground and Woodford County; staff said Stamping Ground would be prioritized and that Woodford County is an established mutual-aid partner. Equipment not claimed by those departments will be placed into the county’s next surplus auction. The motion to donate surplus equipment passed by voice vote.
