XENIA, Ohio — City officials highlighted the grand opening of WCR, a manufacturer and reconditioning firm for industrial heat exchangers, and described the company as a substantial new employer and investor in Xenia.
City Manager Brent Merriman and council members noted WCR’s grand opening and called the company an important economic development win. Merriman said WCR has added “a couple hundred jobs” and operates in a manufacturing niche that typically relies on overseas production; the company’s presence in Xenia brings domestic production and repair capacity to the U.S. market.
Council members and the mayor congratulated WCR and said the company has committed to local hiring and training partnerships, including coordination with the career center and local schools. Vice‑mayor and council members detailed that WCR has roughly 20 current openings and that the company will provide on‑the‑job training; officials described benefit packages including health care, childcare support, multi‑week paid vacation and an employer pension contribution.
Council said the company has invested heavily in the former Super Value warehouse, with staff estimating a multimillion‑dollar investment in manufacturing infrastructure. Officials said WCR plans to hire and train local workers and will coordinate with the career center and other local partners. No direct city incentives or dollar amounts were discussed in detail during the meeting; staff said they had partnered on incentives for the project but did not list sums on the record.
