During public comment, resident Lee Cooley urged the commission to consider extending the Scottsdale trolley route to serve the Granite Reef Food Bank, Granite Reef Senior Center, Vista del Camino Community Center and the Cholla Health Center near McDowell and Pima.
“My name is Lee Cooley. I also serve on the Human Services Advisory Commission...I was very pleased to read back in August that the trolley route was extending to the food bank, the Granite Reef Senior Center and Vista Del Camino Community Center,” Cooley said, and asked commissioners to consider whether the route could include the Cholla Health Center on some Thursdays because it is about a half‑mile from Granite Reef.
Commissioners and staff responded that they would take the suggestion under advisement. Mr. Dommey (staff) said the commission “will be happy to look into that possibility.” Commissioners later asked for a transit presentation at a future meeting that would outline how route changes are analyzed and implemented, including how the system serves low‑income residents and how stop locations and shade are considered.
The request came alongside several future agenda requests asking staff to return with transit briefings and to coordinate with Valley Metro’s bus network redesign outreach this fall. Transportation staff confirmed a transit presentation is planned for the spring and said they will coordinate with other agencies on rider outreach and route planning.
