The Adams County Board of Commissioners approved an updated travel and expense reimbursement policy that eliminates a previous restriction forbidding overnight stays within 75 miles of the courthouse for certain meetings and adds language aimed at discouraging out-of-state travel.
Shannon, who presented the revision, said the policy was updated to reflect rising travel costs and to give staff flexibility to choose travel that best serves the county while tightening language around out-of-state travel and overnight stay authorization. The county attorney and finance staff reviewed the draft; county counsel Clayton flagged the changes and gave informal approval.
The board voted to adopt the revised policy and signed the updated document at the meeting. Commissioners also noted that airline purchases are customarily routed for preapproval; the policy retains a 90-day notice requirement for nonrenewal of some annual service contracts referenced in related benefits items.
Ending: The revised policy takes effect immediately; staff will implement the new reimbursement language and circulate the signed copy.
