The Craven County Board of Commissioners approved a budget amendment of $33,787 from the water fund to purchase a replacement vehicle for the water department after unanticipated maintenance rendered an available spare unsafe for rural travel.
Water Services staff told the board the department had shifted vehicles internally but now lacked a reliable vehicle for fieldwork at remote well sites. The requested amount covers a GMC Terrain, safety lighting and installation, applicable tags and an AIM fueling system installation, staff said.
The amendment was approved by roll call with commissioners voting in favor. County staff said the expense will be paid from the water fund balance.
