Struthers sets Halloween trick-or-treat hours Oct. 31; city highlights fall events

Struthers will hold trick-or-treating on Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m., and Creek Street will be closed from Garfield to Argonne for the event, Mayor Miller told the city council caucus.
The mayor also described a Maple Crest Halloween pet costume contest that requires participants to like the Maple Crest Facebook page and post photos by Oct. 30; staff and residents will vote on Oct. 31. The mayor thanked community groups and noted several fall events: Friends of Fido’s chili cook-off on Oct. 10 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Maronite Center; Struthers Unleashed dog Halloween party at the dog park on Oct. 25; the Beirut Memorial observance on Oct. 18; Rotary Pancake Breakfast on Nov. 2; Lake City Church free community dinners on Oct. 20 and Nov. 17; and an East Coast FOP fundraiser on Nov. 1.
The mayor also said the third issue of the city newsletter is available online and at participating locations. The council did not vote on these items; they were presented as part of the mayor’s report.
