City puts 2025 sidewalk repair contract out to bid; $409,000 budget set

The Parks and Public Works Committee was briefed Oct. 7 on the city's biannual sidewalk repair contract for 2025. Project engineer Patrick Fry said the contract is out to bid through Oct. 28 and that staff received requests for bid clarifications from multiple contractors.
Fry said the 2025 contract covers roughly 150 locations identified for repair after a public outreach effort in August: about one-third of the locations are expected to be grinding work and about two-thirds full replacements. He said the city has $409,000 budgeted for the biannual project and that his engineer's unit estimate is "about $3.50" (unit not specified in the meeting packet).
Fry said the project is on the usual every-other-year schedule and that the contract was delayed slightly by summer staffing and communications efforts that generated additional location requests. He told the committee three contractors had already asked questions on the bid and he expected competitive responses when bids close Oct. 28.
Committee chair Catherine Cotton and council members expressed support for moving the contract forward; no budget adjustments or schedule changes were made at the meeting.
