Clay County board approves 2025-26 TISA accountability report, cites state-set five-year goals

The Clay County School Board on Oct. 16 approved the district's 2025-26 TISA accountability report and the public feedback included with it, acknowledging the state's five-year proficiency targets that set the district's long-term benchmarks.

A district presenter told the board the state's framework sets a 70% proficiency target and requires districts to retain that long-term goal; the district instead recalculates interim growth increments each year based on local assessment results. "The goals were set forth on a 5 year basis, and so they will not allow us to change our overarching goals," the presenter said. "So the larger percentage you see at the top for us to reach 70% proficiency has to be the same because that's designated by the state."

Board materials showed modest movement in some categories between the 2024-25 assessments and the updated plan. The presenter said the district saw growth in areas that moved from "below" to "approaching" proficiency but has not reached the state's 70% target; reading and math goals remain primary, and the district continues to track college- and career-readiness through its graduate-rate metric.
