San Joaquin County EEOAC schedules Oct. 23 diversity luncheon; keynote and employee-only tickets announced

David Davis and EEO staff briefed the committee on the 2025 EEO Diversity Luncheon planned for Thursday, Oct. 23, noon–1:30 p.m., at the San Joaquin County Agriculture Center near the Stockton Airport. The event is for county employees and EEOAC members only.
Staff said Jay Lakey will serve as both keynote speaker and the event caterer. Davis and committee members described Lakey’s community work supplying culinary instruction and support to local youth as a reason for his selection.
The EEO office circulated a registration/registration form to committee members and said tickets are being sold through Thursday, Oct. 16. Tyler (HR staff) said he can email the registration form to online participants and that it is also available for download from the EEOAC page on the county HR website.
Davis provided the luncheon menu for committee members: herb-marinated boneless skin-on chicken thighs, a vegetarian pasta option, creamy garlic mashed potatoes, buttery green beans, dinner roll and spring mix salad. Staff reiterated this is an employee-only event and that EEOAC members have registration forms.
The committee also discussed the program’s diversity awards. Staff said nominations from county employees are substantial and described the selection process as a ranking system. Committee members agreed to review the nomination packets and submit ranked votes to the EEO office within one week so plaques and awards can be ordered in time for the luncheon. A motion to set a one-week deadline for committee rankings passed during the meeting; the committee agreed the deadline would be Friday the 10th.
