The Temecula Valley Unified School District Board of Education unanimously approved an employment agreement Thursday for Michael McTasney to serve as Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services, effective Dec. 1, 2025.
The board read an oral summary required by Government Code Section 54953(c)(3) before taking the vote. According to the terms read into the record, McTasney’s annual salary is $230,417, subject to potential future increases. The contract provides 12 days of sick leave with statutory accrual, 22 working days of paid vacation in addition to holidays (Education Code section referenced in the readout), reimbursement for work-related mileage and expenses, district-paid annual membership in the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) and enrollment in the district’s health, dental and vision plans. The district will pay the premiums for a $250,000 term life insurance policy on McTasney’s behalf.
The readout noted that McTasney may continue district health plan enrollment upon separation or retirement at his own expense. The board then moved and seconded the employment agreement, and the motion passed unanimously.
Board members did not expand on the personnel discussion in open session beyond the required oral summary and the formal vote. The district paperwork, the board clerk said, was included in the posted agenda backup materials filed for the meeting.
The board’s formal approval completes the hiring step outlined in the agenda backup; the district will execute the contract and handle onboarding per administrative procedures.
