Hermitage branch highlights high registration and community programming at board meeting

Hermitage Branch Manager Emily (staff) briefed the board on branch activity, describing strong community partnerships, events and growth in new library card registrations.
Emily said the Hermitage Branch is collaborating with the Hermitage Community Center and nearby Metro agencies, has an active Friends of the Library group approaching 50 members and ranks among the system's busiest branches by several metrics. The branch reported approximately 300 new library cards during a September registration initiative and has 15.5 full-time-equivalent staff positions.
Programming includes adult notary services, 1-on-1 tech help, ESL classes, teen hangouts, maker activities including 3-D printing, preschool puppet story time, movie screenings and recurring community events such as a fourth annual tree-lighting scheduled for Dec. 4. The branch also received an $80,000 participatory grant to expand pollinator gardening on its grounds.
Emily thanked board members for long-term support and invited them to the branch’s upcoming events and to tour the facility. She said branch staff submitted renovation wishlist items for system planning and continue to develop bilingual programming for the coming year.
