Cary resident urges village to address bright floodlights on ComEd poles near St. Peter and Paul

A resident who identified himself only as Joe told the Village of Cary board on Oct. 7 that LED floodlights installed on ComEd poles near St. Peter and Paul are shining into nearby homes and yards and interfering with nighttime use of private property.
"Those stupid floodlights that they put up on the ComEd poles ... they just light up everything," Joe said during the public comment period. He said the lights have been a problem for more than two years and that neighbors have complained to village staff, specifically naming a staff member he called John.
Joe said he believes "state law permits" requiring shields and downward-directed lighting would apply; he asked the village to enforce applicable rules and left a contact number ending in 9539 for staff follow-up. Mayor Mark Kownick said staff would reach out.
The comment came during open forum; no formal action was taken at the meeting. Mayor Kownick told Joe, "We'll have staff reach out to you, and we'll talk to [you] about this."
