Cary board approves $10,000 facade grant for All Marine Motorsports at 126 Janus Cutoff

The Village of Cary board approved a resolution on Oct. 7 to enter an incentive agreement with All Marine Motorsports under the village’s facade improvement and interior build-out grant program for the property at 126 Janus Cutoff.
Village Director Simmons told the board the company’s application covers roughly $27,000 in exterior improvements, including window replacement and repainting, and that the village grant would provide $10,000 — about 37% of the project cost. Director Simmons said the improvements meet the program’s established guidelines.
Mayor Mark Kownick opened the item for discussion, and trustees said they saw value in refreshing an underdeveloped commercial area to encourage further investment. Trustee David Prezina said a refreshed façade “may attract new businesses to some of the surrounding vacant lots.”
The board approved the resolution by roll call: Trustees Collier, Dudek, Anthony Stefani, Christina and Rick Walrath voted yes; Trustee McCallpine was absent. The motion passed and the village will move forward with the incentive agreement under the program rules.
The village’s facade-improvement program is an annual, budgeted program; Director Simmons told the board that if the program continues in future fiscal years, eligible businesses can apply again but awards may be granted in different fiscal years depending on available funding.
The board did not discuss additional site changes as part of this application; Director Simmons said cleaning up outside debris and other site improvements were not part of the current proposal.
