The council approved a resolution to enter a five‑year contract with Community Waste Disposal (CWD) for solid‑waste and recycling services. The existing contract began March 1, 2021 and concludes February 28, 2026. The new proposed agreement would run March 1, 2026 through February 28, 2031 and would maintain existing service levels except that residential recycling collection would increase from every other week to once per week. City staff recommended approval and the council voted to adopt the resolution.
On an administrative item, the council voted to cast Forney’s single TML (Texas Municipal League) Region 13 board election vote for Crystal Chisholm, Mayor Pro Tem of DeSoto; the resolution/ballot deadline was the day after the meeting and staff recorded the council’s selection for submission.
City Manager Daniels reported that the city will host its first ever ‘Forney Festival’ in downtown Forney on Saturday, Oct. 25 (event details posted at forneytx.gov) and congratulated Councilmember Chambers on a recent promotion to lieutenant with the Dallas Police Department.
