Council appoints members to Animal Shelter advisory board, EDC and Parks and Recreation

The City Council filled three advisory‑board vacancies after hearing brief statements from applicants.
Councilmember Schlenzker nominated Andrea Hensley to the Animal Adoption Center Shelter Advisory Committee to serve as the animal‑welfare organization representative; the nomination was seconded by Councilmember Traylor and passed by show of hands. Hensley identified herself as representing Hearts and Howls Rescue and described foster and rescue work locally.
Councilmember Traylor nominated Jennifer Morgan to the Forney Economic Development Corporation board; Councilmember Schlenzker seconded the nomination and the appointment passed. Morgan described more than 20 years of real‑estate and development experience and said she moved to Forney in 2022.
Councilmember Schlenzker nominated Henry Abramson for the Parks & Recreation Board; the nomination was seconded and approved by show of hands. Abramson spoke about 22 years as a Forney resident, a marketing and sales background and interest in economic and parks development. The city clerk noted three seats were available and that additional vacancies will be published for applicants not selected tonight.
Other applicants who addressed council but were not selected included Yolanda Hamilton, Terrence Southern and Tamara Winter; the clerk encouraged them to reapply for upcoming vacancies.
