Commission revokes Plan B Burger Bar liquor license after no-show at final hearing

The City of Springfield License Commission voted Oct. 8 to revoke the all-alcohol license for Plan B Springfield LLC, dba Plan B Burger Bar at 1000 West Columbus Avenue, after the operator failed to submit required license paperwork and did not appear at a scheduled final hearing.

The commission's action followed staff reports that the business had not turned in its license and that the operator had not been in contact with the licensing office. The hearing was listed on the agenda as a “Section 77” final hearing regarding the status of the license; staff told commissioners the restaurant had been notified in advance and did not appear.

Commissioners discussed whether to continue the matter again or move to revoke. After commissioners noted repeated noncompliance and a lack of response, the commission adopted a motion to revoke the license. The revocation motion passed on a roll-call vote with all commissioners present voting yes.

The commission did not provide further conditions or an explicit timeline for appeal during the meeting. No representative of Plan B appeared at City Hall or on the meeting Zoom feed to explain the absence.

The revocation ends the business’s authority to operate under an all-alcohol license until and unless the commission later reconsiders or the operator obtains a new license through the proper application process.
