Codington County Commissioners opened bids Oct. 14 for a bridge repair project on County Road 7‑4 (project 15‑240‑155). County staff read six sealed bids and said they will tabulate them and reconvene next week to review completeness before any contract award.
County staff told commissioners the bids received were (company — amount): Pram Construction Inc., Slayton, Minnesota — $92,839.70; Holloway Bridge & Culvert, Parker, South Dakota — $102,729.00; BX Civil and Construction (Dell Rapids, S.D.) — $104,227.50; Latola Builders Inc. (Lake Norden, S.D.) — $105,657.10; Knowles Dragline & Construction Inc. (Hartford, S.D.) — $146,352.75; and Tyzak Concrete LLC (La Center, Minn.) — $256,132.36. Staff confirmed each bidder submitted a bid bond.
The presenter told the board Mark (county staff) will tabulate the bids and that the South Dakota Department of Transportation also must approve the contract before work can proceed. No award was made at the meeting; staff asked to return next week with a tabulation and recommendation.
The commissioners did not take a formal award vote at the meeting. The board recorded that next steps are (1) staff tabulation of bids, (2) review at a reconvened meeting next week, and (3) DOT approval before a contract is executed.
Clarifying details provided by staff at the meeting noted the project is a repair of east‑side damage to the listed bridge and that all bidders provided bid bonds. Staff did not provide a construction start date or recommended contractor at the time bids were opened.
Copies of the bid amounts will be included in the procurement file and the board indicated the item will return for action after DOT review and staff verification of bid documents.
