Votes at a glance: Board approves academic, administrative and finance resolutions; recesses to closed session

The Nutley Public School District Board of Education approved academic, administrative, finance, policy and personnel resolutions during the meeting and recessed into a closed executive session to discuss personnel, contracts and legal matters.

Academic resolutions: Miss Stanczyk Martin moved academic resolutions 1–5 as presented. The motion carried. Board member Mister Kaczynski stated he would vote for resolutions 1, 3, 4 and 5 and abstain on resolution 2; all other members voted yes.

Administrative resolutions: Administration resolutions 1 and 2 were moved and approved by roll call.

Finance resolutions: The finance committee moved resolutions 1–17 as written; the roll call approved the slate. During the finance report earlier in the meeting, Business Administrator Michael DeVita reported that a refunding of bonds issued in 2007 produced a present‑value savings of 4.696%, which the district said will reduce the debt‑service tax load by an average of about $113,480 per year and total estimated savings of $907,840 across the remaining life of the bonds.

Policy and personnel resolutions were also moved and approved by roll call later in the meeting. The board then adopted a motion to recess to closed executive session to discuss personnel, contracts and legal issues "pursuant to NJSA 10:4‑12." The board said results of the closed‑session discussion will be released on a subsequent public agenda when appropriate.
