The Zoning Board approved an applicant’s request Oct. 20 to construct a carport at the property known as +198 Winter Street.
Rod Cameron, representing the owner, said the structure replaces an old garage and is primarily intended to keep snow off the owner’s vehicle; the owner is a senior who has difficulty clearing snow. Nearest neighbor Wayne Swearingen told the board he owns the adjacent property and had no objection; Swearingen said the carport might encroach slightly but would not create problems.
Board members had no substantive objections to the proposal and approved application ZB2026‑019 with the conditions described in the application. The approval formalizes the small accessory structure in roughly the location of the former garage and included the board’s standard site‑specific conditions about dimensions and placement.
No public opposition was recorded.
