Local American Legion Auxiliary registers two cemeteries for Wreaths Across America; seeks volunteers

Tracy Coats, representing American Legion Auxiliary Unit 165, told the Two Rivers City Council on Oct. 20 that the unit has registered two local cemeteries for Wreaths Across America'a national remembrance event scheduled for Dec. 13, 2025.

Coats said the unit registered Pioneer Calvary (the Old Cemetery) and Holy Cross Forest View (the new cemetery) as official Wreaths Across America locations and that the group expects to lay between roughly 405 and 500 wreaths across the two sites. "The 2025 Wreaths Across America Day is Dec. 13," Coats said, and added that the local ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery by the memorial.

Coats said the Two Rivers Rotary provided a grant of 150 wreaths and that fundraising by Cool City Brewing Company'including proceeds from Oktoberfest'will supply additional wreaths; she said the group expects to receive a pledge for about 250 wreaths and that local organizers are recruiting volunteers to help place wreaths on veterans'grave markers. The presenter provided the Wreaths Across America location ID (WI0106P) for volunteers to register.

Coats invited council members and the public to participate in the ceremonial placement of eight branch-representative wreaths honoring the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines and POW/MIA veterans.

Council members thanked Coats for the work and asked how volunteers could sign up; Coats said people could register through the Wreaths Across America website or simply show up on the day and volunteers would be assigned tasks.
