Osceola County designates Title VI coordinator and completes Iowa DOT assurances

A staff member told the board that at training they learned the delegation of Title VI coordinator authority must be made by the organization's executive (the board chair) each time the executive changes. The staff member said a prior delegation in 2023 had not been re-delegated after a change in leadership in 2024 and that the board needed to renew the designation. The board moved and approved the designation in order to satisfy Iowa DOT requirements.
Helmer moved and Schulte seconded the motion to designate Grama as the representative; the board approved the action by voice vote and recorded ayes. No public comment on the Title VI item was recorded during the meeting.
Staff noted that if the chair later prefers to serve as coordinator, the board may choose that option in a subsequent action; the designation must be repeated if the board changes chair in a future year.
