The Hingham School Committee on Sept. 29 approved multiple donations and grants and declared surplus property for disposal.
Donations and grants approved: - A family donated a refrigerator to Plymouth River School and a local moving company, Kid with a Truck, donated delivery services; the committee accepted the gift. - The Hingham High School PTO offered funds to cover stipends for Harbormen Helping Hingham, a homework club, and a volunteer coordinator; the committee accepted the donation. - MassHire offered a $3,000 grant to Hingham Public Schools to fund transportation to the MassHire Construction Career Day on Oct. 16; the committee accepted the grant.
The committee also declared certain district items surplus and authorized the executive director of business and support services to dispose of them at least cost, a motion that passed.
All motions to accept donations, accept the MassHire grant and declare surplus items passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
