Weber County commissioners voted Sept. 30 to forward Resolution 39-2025 to Plain City, recommending annexation of three sections of an unincorporated island near 2200 North.
County planner Sean Wilkinson told commissioners the county had improved portions of the road and is seeking Plain City cooperation to annex the areas because the county would no longer maintain that section of road if the city assumes jurisdiction. "The proposed annexation area consists of one island, but it's divided into three sections," Wilkinson said. He cited state code procedures used to process island annexations without a petition and summarized the findings the county considered.
Wilkinson said residents could see modest changes in municipal levies but that the larger tax effect depends on fire district charges. "So right now, let's say there's a house valued at $500,000... In Plain City, it's $64.90... potentially, on a $500,000 home, residents could see an overall savings of about $276 per year on their taxes," he said, noting the…
