Sedalia proclaims September Workforce Development Month; two women receive keys to the city for July rescue

Mayor Andrew Dawson formally presented a proclamation naming September as Workforce Development Month and recognized two local women with keys to the city for rescuing a driver from a burning vehicle on July 9.

And she immediately put mom at rest because she was able to tell me what I call my language, that my kid truly was okay." Johnson said her daughter continues to struggle with nightmares and acknowledged the rescuers' actions prevented a much worse outcome.

Dawson said the key to the city is a symbolic honor and presented plaques to both McMillan and Curtis for their "bravery, selflessness, and fast action." The council recessed for a brief 10-minute photo period following the ceremony.
