Hamilton County school board advances revised district goals, asks staff for annual report metrics

The Hamilton County School Board spent an extended portion of its meeting discussing revised district goals and a new annual report framework meant to align board priorities with the Opportunity 2030 strategic plan. Board members and staff narrowed several proposed metrics, asked administration to supply baseline data and recommended the item be placed on the agenda as a first read.

Board members said the redlined draft compresses the former multi-sentence sections into one main sentence per strategic category to mirror Opportunity 2030 and make the goals more actionable. Staff described an annual, fall report from the director of schools that would tie approved board goals to measurable outcomes and evidence the board can use for oversight and for superintendent evaluation.

Board and staff discussion focused on four broad clusters of indicators: student achievement and growth, school operations and facilities, employee recruitment and retention, and community engagement.
