The Richmond Rent Program presented proclamations of appreciation and a perpetual plaque recognizing the service of past Rent Board members at the board’s September 2025 special meeting.
Nicholas Traylor, executive director of the Rent Program, thanked staff for coordinating the item and noted the work of former board members in establishing program regulations and guiding the office through growth and pandemic-era challenges. The board clerk read the names and terms of former members, including Alana Grice Conner (2019–2023), Carol Johnson (2021–2023), Camiola Duncan (2019–2021), David Gray (2017–2019), Elaine Dawkins (2023–2025), Emma Gerald (2017–2021), Corina Guadalupe (2023–2024), Lauren Madock (2017–2021), Michael Vasilas (2021–2023), Nancy Combs (2017–2019), Sheba Meshek (2021–2023) and Virginia Finley (2017–2023).
Two former board members accepted proclamations and offered brief remarks. One honoree said, "It was a pleasure serving with each of you," and another praised staff hires and the work of prior board members in drafting thorough regulations. Current board members echoed thanks to the honorees and staff; Chair Tipton and other present members thanked former members for foundational work that allowed the program to operate effectively.
The program will display the perpetual plaque in its office; staff asked attendees to view the plaque after the meeting. A single public speaker, Cordell Hindler, offered brief remarks thanking honorees and noting his role in placing the item on the agenda.
No formal vote was required for the presentation; proclamations and the plaque were presented as part of the meeting’s recognition items.
